OPTREX is widely recognized as one of the top LCD manufacturers not only in Japan but worldwide. Also we have a major market share at automotive LCD. Because they are exposed to constant shocks and a wide range of operating temperatures, automotive LCDs demand a very high level of reliability. To solve the problem, we developed the simple matrix technology for car-mounted LCDs, and this technology is now the basis for our LCDs for data communication equipment such as laptop computers, PDAs and mobile phones, measuring devices and amusement-related equipment. The technology is already synonymous with our brand name both in Japan and abroad. In the Information Technology era, LCD requirements are ever more diverse and sophisticated in the quest for a more comfortable Human Interface (HI) environment. At OPTREX, we are already identifying needs and attempting to answer them with original, high-technology LCDs. This customer-oriented design process has already yielded products such as the wide-angle, automotive LCDs, and high-contrast MLA (multi-line addressing) STN LCDs with high-speed response suitable for full-color video images.
